Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles

Teaser Demo Manual

Thank you for downloading Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles Teaser Demo for the GP2X from Yuan Works. This is a manual that explains several features in the game. This is the online manual, for screenshots, story and character info, check the main Wind And Water page.

System requirements

You need a ZIP file extractor, such as WinZip.

You need to have the SDL installed, since we are not including any SDL files. Most GP2X consoles already have the SDL installed. It should work fine on newer Firmwares, but we don't know about older firmwares.

You also need an SD Card to store the game in. Do not store the file in NAND memory.

Updates from version 1.00 to 1.10:

- Minor bug in the music that caused the music to play "jagged", not common but it has been fixed for most cases.

- Bug where you could score points in any mode and open the slides that required to score points in Time Attack.

To Start

First, download the file WindAndWater_teaser_110.zip. If you had version 1.00, you can download the .GPE file only and replace the older one. After you download it, create a new folder in your SD Card and unzip the files there. You should have the following files in your the folder you created:

WindAndWater.gpe
WindAndWater.png
WindAndWater.eplib
WindAndWater.eos0
WindAndWater.eos1
WindAndWater.eos2
WindAndWater.eos3
WindAndWater.eos4
WindAndWater.eos5
WindAndWater.eos6
WindAndWater.eos7
WindAndWater.eos8
WindAndWater.eos9
WindAndWater.eos10
WindAndWater.eos11

Then, select "Games" in your GP2X Bios and go to the WindAndWater folder. Then, select "WindAndWater" and enjoy! :)

If you wish to return to the BIOS or turn off the GP2X, avoid turning it off in mid-gameplay. Instead, return to the menu and select the "Quit" option. The game regularly saves your progress, and turning the console off while it is saving can corrupt the save file.

After you learn how to play, you should try Practice for a while to get familiar with the game. After you're comfortable with the basics, you can try the other modes.

Puzzle Mode

In the Puzzle Mode, your goal is to clear all the color blocks using a number of moves. If you lose, you can chose to

If you can clear Stage A9, you'll get a nice surprise :)

Time Battle

In Time Battle you have 2 minutes to score as high as you can. Bigger combos give you more points, as well as elemental and consecutive chains. You can win big prizes if you get a hiscore in Time Attack!!

Endless

The press will start pushing you up! The longer you play, the faster the press will ascend. To keep the press down, clear blocks as fast as you can. The bolder the clear, the more the press goes down!

Practice

In this mode the press is disabled, so you can play without worrying about losing. It's a very good mode to practice combos, elementals, and chains!

Tutorial

In the Tutorial Amy teaches you how to play this game. From the most basic controls, to some of the more advanced moves. To select a tutorial move the arrow with the stick and press B. To cancel a tutorial press SELECT.

Extra

This game has several extras that can be unlocked. To view them, select the Extra tab and press B.

Quit

Here you can exit the game. It's better to use this tab because it ensures that your saved game won't corrupt.

Skills

The Skills determine the way the game is played. More advanced Skills require more experienced players, and serveral important gameplay elements change in each one. There is only one selectable Skill in this Teaser Demo.

Beginner: Time Combo Automatic Maximum (Auto Max)

In this skill any combo, chain, or elemental gives you an automatic 15 second Time Combo. During a Time Combo, any combo you make before the timer ends adds up into a global combo. While the timer is running you cannot lose, as the press will be disabled. After the timer ends, there is a recharge time during which you are voulnerable, so it's important to keep making combos, elementals, and chains to keep the press down. During the recharge time you cannot open a Time Combo, and any special moves made during the recharge time will not trigger the timer. After the gauge charges to OK, you can open another Time Combo Auto Max.

We hope you enjoy the demo!
